Santa Maria Valley 99s

It was 1929 and the first Women's Air Derby was starting at Santa Monica's Clover
Field to terminate in Cleveland, Ohio. You can read all about it on here which will
explain the excitement that day which continued along the route that August.

After that race, 99 women came together to form The Ninety-Nines. And to this
day, there's very little that we enjoy more than an air race.

The Palms to Pines Air Race from Santa Monica, California to Bend, Oregon
celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009. Many of our chapter members have
competed in the Palms to Pines over many years.
